Taicang – Yangshan Feeder
Service Platform Provides Better Services to Our Clients
(Taicang, 2nd June 2009)The 2009 Exposition of Taicang – Yangshan
Feeder Service Platform was held in Suzhou on May 26th. Five major
feeder companies signed the “Taicang-Yangshan League” to work
together to optimize the current resources in Taicang Port and
better utilize the transhipment platform between Taicang and
Yangshan.
With government policy support and the endeavour of both feeder companies and the Port itself, the Yangshan Feeder Service Model developed by Taicang Port has achieved a rapid growth in both line frequencies and throughput after three years’ operation. The “Taicang-Yangshan League” will accelerate the co-operation among feeder companies in all aspects and provide to shippers better services.
A new deepwater port located at the hub of the fast-growing Yangtze River Delta A new deepwater port located at the hub of the fast-growing Yangtze River Delta (YRD) manufacturing region, where the Yangtze River and East China Sea converge, Taicang International Gateway became fully operational in 2006. The facility is an ideal gateway to the most developed economic region of Southern Jiangsu, including the fast-growing export-oriented industrial sectors of Kunshan, Suzhou, Wuxi, Taicang and other nearby areas. It is equipped with a full array of cutting-edge technology, and operated by a highly experienced management team and dedicated workforce who provide world-class container services. Taicang International Gateway is owned and operated by Suzhou Modern Terminals, Ltd., a joint-venture company formed by Modern Terminals and the Suzhou Government.
Taicang International Gateway has a designed annual throughput capacity of 2 million TEUs. The total quay length of 1,100 metres and the current quay depth at 12.5 metres, which will be dredged to 14 metres, can accommodate four 50,000-tonne vessels simultaneously, and its 35 Electrical Rubber-tyred Gantry Cranes can provide efficient and environmental friendly operations.
