DecemberOn Dec 15, the mainland cargo ship “Tianfu”left Taicang port for Keelung in Taiwan. It witnessed the historical moment that from now on, the vessels no longer need to make detours to southwestern Japan's IshigakiIsland enrouteto Taiwan and the new era of direct sea transport started.
Taicang is one of the first four ports that started direct links with Taiwan. "The distance and time from Taicang to a Taiwan port will be shortened by 200 nautical miles and 36 hours, it will reduce fuel and visa costs by 10,000 U.S. dollars each trip." Mei Zhengrong, director of the Taicang Port Management Office said.
The direct transport makes the trade between mainland China and Taiwan much more convenient. Taicang International Gateway will also capture this great opportunity to enhance the cooperation between Taicang port and Taiwan.
